Credit goes Romi Anderson, a good mutual friend, for introducing us. Romi was Mike’s roommate when I moved back to Bozeman and she convinced Mike to allow me to move in. Originally Mike was opposed to having another roommate, ironic how things worked out! After living together for about a year, Mike and I realized there was much more to our friendship than we had originally thought. I bought a condo, we moved apart, but continued to have lots of fun! Many dates, adventures and a year and a half later Mike popped the question!
Unknown to me, Mike had been planning this secret trip for several months. We kept trying to find a few days to get away, finally after the holidays we were able to take off for a bit in early January. Mike wouldn’t tell me where we were going; he wanted to keep it a surprise, which was fine with me because he always has a fun plan! He told me what to bring and off we went. By the time we reached the Montana/Idaho border I had given up, I had no idea where he was taking me. We took a hike through the snow, which led to a natural hotsprings nestled in the mountains overlooking a beautiful canyon. A still clueless me was just enjoying the moment, when Mike brought up some things we had talked about very early in our relationship. Before I knew it, he was on one knee and pulling a ring out of his bathing suit pocket. He popped the question, I said YES, and we drank Champagne while watching the sunset in the snow. A beautiful night! We spent the rest of the weekend skiing and celebrating with friends! It brings a huge smile to my face just recounting the day!
